#1 Chris”The Boy” Zavala

To begin our list, we have featherweight prospect fighting out of Long Beach, Chris “The Boy” Zavala (3-0-0 1 KO). Recently signed to Top Rank Promotions in May of 2018, Zavala trains with Coach Manny Robles, ESPN’s 2016 Trainer of the Year, at Legendz Boxing Gym in Norwalk, Ca. “The Boy” won his 3rd professional fight by way of KO in the fourth round against Luis Perez Salas (5-2-2 2 KOs) earlier this month. Zavala is entertaining to watch in the ring and appears to have a bright future ahead of him.

#2: Manny Robles Jr.

Kyte Monroe

Next on our list is the son of coach Manny Robles, Manny Robles Jr III (17-0-0 8 KOs). He is a featherweight boxer from Lake Elsinore and is signed to Golden Boy Promotions. Robles currently holds the NABF Featherweight Title since June 2018, which he acquired by knockout victory against the then, also undefeated Golden Boy prospect Edgar “Kid Neza” Valerio, and had his first successful title defense this past Nov. in Fantasy Springs.

#3: Jaime Mungia

Next, we have Jaime Mungia (31-0-0 26 KOs) from Tijuana, BC. Mungia is the WBO Junior Middleweight World Champ and has shown to have a lot of power in the ring. Watching him fight is exceptionally entertaining, almost beautiful. He’s acquired immense attention since destroying Golden Boy’s Sadam Ali, defending his title in a toe-to-toe battle with Liam Smith, and by almost decapitating Brandon Cook in the undercard of Canelo vs. Golovkin 2. However, I would like to see him get more attention in 2019 as a unification fight is sure to put fans at the edge of their seat this upcoming year. His next match will be in Houston, TX, against Takeshi Inoue on Jan. 26.

#4: Vergil Ortiz Jr.

Signed to Golden Boy Promotions, Vergil Ortiz Jr (11-0, 11 KOs) from Grand Prairie, TX. currently holds the NABF Junior Super Lightweight Title. Not only does his knockout power impress everyone in attendance to his fights, but his tweets are hilarious, and you should follow him on Twitter. Definitely one of the top prospects and someone to watch in 2019. His stablemate Mikey Garcia told Xicana Boxing he believes Ortiz Jr. will be a world champion soon.

#5: Adrian Montoya

Adrian Montoya (7-0, 7KOs) reigns from Puerto Penasco, Jalisco. Montoya trains with coach Edgar Cruz in Ontario and Oxnard, Ca. Though he is not yet signed, there is a bright future ahead for this kid.

#6 Teofimo Lopez

Next, we have Teofimo Lopez (11-0-0 9 KOs) from Brooklyn, NY. Lopez is a six time USA National Champion and 2016 Olympian. He is signed to Top Rank Promotions and Yahoo Sports named him 2018’s Prospect of the Year. He also earned CBS Sports first slot for 2018 Knockout of the Year. Lopez won his last fight against Mason Menard (34-4-0 24 KO) with an incredible first round knock out. His next fight will against Diego Magdaleno (31-2-0 13 KO) on February 2nd in Frisco, TX.

#6: Ryan Garcia

Last but definitely not least on this list is Ryan “The Flash” Garcia (16-0-0 13 KO). At only 20 years old he is signed to Goldenboy Promotions and trains alongside Canelo with Eddy Reynoso. Garcia is a 15-time national champion and currently holds the NABF Junior Super Featherweight Title. With his speed and Reynoso’s coaching, there is a bright future ahead for Garcia, and whether you love him or love to hate him, you’ll definitely be watching.
