RONALD “THE AMERICAN DREAM” JOHNSON TO REMATCH SERGIO “TOTA” RAMIREZ IN 10-ROUND HEAVYWEIGHT CLASH FROM PICO RIVERA SPORTS ARENA ON OCT. 12!
Ronald “American Dream” Johnson looks to repeat the dose of defeat over Mexican heavyweight Sergio “Tota” Ramirez on Saturday, Oct. 12 as main event of Supremacy Showdown at Pico Rivera Sports Arena.
Johnson (16-1, 4 KOs) scored a unanimous decision win over Ramirez (18-6, 10 KOs) in July 2017 at the Westgate Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas. While Johnson has only stepped in the ring once since their first fight, Ramirez has remained more active fighting two more times in 2017 and four more in 2018. For both heavyweights, this will be the first time back in the squared circle this year.
Johnson will make his first title defense of the Global Boxing Organization Heavyweight Title, which he acquired in June against Saul Farrah in Davao City, Philippines. Newly Nevada Hall of Fame inductee Floyd Mayweather Sr. will be in Johnson’s corner as he looks to add another victory to his record.
RED Boxing Promotions continues to promote women’s boxing showcasing undefeated prospect Adelaida “La Cobra” Ruiz (8-0, 4 KOs) who will be defending her GBO Super Flyweight Continental Title. The opponent has yet to be selected, but fireworks are guaranteed in Ruiz’s second appearance on a RED Boxing Promotions event.
Ruiz captured the GBO Flyweight Title in June against Mexican southpaw Myrka Aguayo (2-1, 0 KOs) at the Pico Rivera Sports Arena and is ready for whatever style they put in front of her.
“[The fight] did help me,” said Ruiz, about her previous opponent. “It gave me more experience. It was my first southpaw opponent. I had sparred with southpaws before, but not as often. It kind of helped me because she kept getting with some certain hits and I was like, ‘how in the world is she getting me?’ but after seeing the fight, I learned a lot from it. If I was to fight with another southpaw, I’ll be ready this time.”
Filipino super featherweight Recky “The Terror” Dulay will fight in Pico Rivera for the first time, taking on undefeated Pomona Native Israel “Bad Ways” Mercado. Though he has a tainted record, Dulay (11-6, 8 KOs) always comes to fight and gives the fan exciting matchups.
Having just fought in August in Costa Mesa, CA., Mercado (7-0, 7 KOs) delivered a tremendous second-round knockout over Mike Fowler (7-24, 2 KOs) and hopes to continue his perfect knockout ratio against Dulay on Oct. 12.
Nineteen-year-old Angel Israel Rodriguez (3-0, 1 KO) who trains out of Last Round Boxing Gym in his hometown of Montebello, will be making his third appearance at a Red Boxing Promotions event and defend his GBO Lightweight California State title against an opponent soon to be announced.
Los Angeles native Alexander “The Great” Enriquez looks to maintain his undefeated record in a six-round bantamweight bout with an opponent soon-to-be-announced. Enriquez (11-0, 1 KOs) is coming off a unanimous decision victory against Ricardo Cuellar this past July from The Avalon in Hollywood.
Born in Queens, NY. and now fighting out of Sacramento, CA., 24-year-old Devon “The Great” Lee will be part of Supremacy Showdown and attempt to keep his undefeated record intact against a TBA opponent.
Making his pro-debut at a catchweight of 142, Nicholas Irizarry will be a part of fight night in a four-rounder against an opponent yet to be announced. Irizarry counts with trainer Milton Lacroix in his corner, who trains YouTube sensation Logan Paul amongst other celebrities.
Montebello’s Alejandro Martinez seeks his first pro-career victory as he takes on Alvin Brown in a four-round super featherweight contest. Martinez (0-1-1, 0 KOs) who made his pro debut in April is trained by his father and brother and is managed by Cesar Garcia’s Black House Boxing. Martinez wants to prove third time’s the charm and make a statement against Brown who also has yet to rise victorious in any of his eight bouts. Brown, who has a five-inch height advantage will be fighting out of Pico Rivera Sports Arena for the second time in his career.
Andre Marquez (2-1, 1 KO) makes his return to Pico Rivera Sports Arena for his second consecutive Red Boxing Promotions event taking on Mario Angeles (3-12-2, 0 KOs) of Mexico City. Angeles is coming off a unanimous decision victory and looks to maintain his momentum against a less-experienced Marquez in their four-round super featherweight bout. Though he suffered a loss on his first pro-bout last May, Marquez has seemed to adapt to the pros with two consecutive victories, with the last coming by way of technical knockout.
Following his pro-debut in Tom Loeffler’s 360 Promotions card last March, 21-year-old Timothy Ortiz looks to earn his second victory on Red Boxing Promotions’ Supremacy Showdown against an opponent TBA for a four-round super bantamweight match.
